Greenside at a glance

Set in the leafy region to the North of Johannesburg CBD is the picturesque suburb of Greenside. This is an older suburb which like many of its neighbours has undergone a transformation in recent years and is becoming much sought after.

With traffic volumes ever increasing, location is paramount. Greenside is ideally situated in relation to amenities and major traffic routes. It is bordered by Victory Park, Parkview, Parkhurst & Emmarentia and close to Randburg. The main roads of Barry Herzog & Jan Smuts Ave are therefore easily accessible and are both Public Transport Routes. Rosebank Gautrain is nearby as is access to the Highway.

Greenside has established government schools, Greenside Primary & Greenside High, the latter being renowned for its academic results. Private Schools in Victory Park, Rosebank & Westcliff are short travelling distances away. Both Wits Campus & UJ are within a 20 minute drive. Greenside Design Centre offers courses & BA Degrees in Interior, Multimedia & Graphic Design. Carlton Hair Academy is another Tertiary education option in Greenside.

Greenside's Commercial Centre & Café Culture is to be found along Greenway & Gleneagles Roads. Here numerous restaurants & Coffee Bars are always buzzing with activity. Companies & shops offer varied services & merchandise along this retail strip. Some of the larger attractions are a large family Pharmacy, Spar Supermarket, Woolworths Food Store, Nedbank Branch & the Greenside Post Office. These are interspersed with smaller home industry & novelty shops. If extensive choice is required, Rosebank Mall, Cresta Mall & Hyde Park are short travelling distances away.

Excellent Medical facilities are close by with Milpark Hospital & Rosebank Clinic in neighbouring suburbs and for one's pets Greenside Animal Hospital is a state of the art Veterinary practice.

Families enjoying the outdoor life whether it be cycling, jogging, sailing or simply walking the dog, have outstanding areas on their doorstep. Zoo Lake, Emmarentia Dam, Johannesburg Botanical Gardens & Delta Park provide all this & more.

Other recreational facilities are Pirates Sports & Rugby Club & Parkview Golf Club, both extremely popular and long standing Clubs in the area. Victory Park Centre has a comprehensive Virgin Active Gym.

The erection of the Mosque bordering Greenside & Emmarentia has been a considerable incentive for prospective Muslim buyers. Greenside also has a Synagogue and is close to Churches of varying denominations.

Residences in Greenside offer considerable value for money. The stands in Greenside are in the main in excess of 1000sqm. The houses in Greenside are older & solidly built and have rooms with generous proportions. Many of the homes, especially those on the market, have had stylish renovations. However, whilst they may have been modernised, many of the wonderful old features like pressed ceilings, pine floors & open fireplaces have been retained.

Most homes have swimming pools and established gardens and are surrounded by high walls. The properties bordering the Parkview Golf Course have the added privilege of stunning views across the Greens. The average price is mid R3 million with the occasional property dropping below or sometimes asking above R4 million. These prices are well below what is asked in nearby affluent suburbs.
