Kempton Park at a glance
Kempton Park is located northeast of the bustling metropolis of Johannesburg in Gauteng. It is around 54km south of Pretoria, 25km away from Johannesburg, and resides strategically on the East Rand.
Kempton Park property owners are fortunate in that the city’s unique location has allowed for many large businesses and establishments such as SAA, Emperors Palace and other very successful brands to set up their main headquarters in the city.
This is also largely attributed to the OR Tambo International Airport that is housed in Kempton Park, which of course fosters tremendous local and international business activities, as well as industrial and residential development within the city.
What is the Kempton Park property markets composition?
The market stock consists mainly of freehold or full title Kempton Park properties, making up around 65%, while sectional title properties in Kempton stand at about a quarter of the market and residential estates at approximately 10%.
The large number of freehold houses, townhouses, as well as commercial, industrial properties and vacant stands within the city, coupled with the reasonable proportion of sectional scheme properties, has left comparatively little room for estate developments.
However, although the percentage is relatively smaller the number of properties for sale in Kempton Park still provides a wide selection of options for first-time, repeat, retirement and investment property purchases.
What is unique about Kempton Park as a city and what makes it stand out?
Kempton Park boasts one of the largest coal power plants in South Africa known as “Kelvin Power Station” as well as a thriving industrial district known as Spartan. The main industries in Kempton Park include industrial chemical manufacturing, power and airline travel services to mention a few. This is a flourishing area due to the location of the airport and easy access to major transport routes.
There are a variety of attractions including the 72 par Kempton Park Golf Course, deli and arts & crafts markets, the Festival Mall Ice Arena for great family fun and much more! Apart from malls and shopping centres with premium brands and buying opportunities, there are also historic landmarks to appreciate; you can even combine this with breathtaking ballooning from nearby Hartbeespoort.
