Polokwane at a glance
Polokwane, often referred to by its former name “Pietersburg”, is the Capital of Limpopo and is situated at the heart of the province. The culturally and historically-rich city is intersected by the N1 and provides easy access to various regional roads. It is also a major urban hub – the largest north of Gauteng – and has given rise to an active property market with a number of transactions taking throughout each year.
In terms of geographic location Tzaneen is situated east of Polokwane, Waterberg to the west and Warmbaths to the southwest. The city offers a wide selection of property types and prices to suite the widest spectrum of first time and repeat property buyers.
What is unique about Polokwane as a city?
Although located along the Tropic of Capricorn the city maintains a semi-arid climate, with summer rainfall and generally warm weather, with dry winters. Polokwane, affectionately known as the “City of Stars”, is very community oriented and maintains a general motto of “Naturally Progressive”.
It’s no surprise that Polokwane has evolved from humble beginnings, becoming a city in 1992. In keeping with the spirit of change and reconciliation, city’s name was changed from Pietersburg to Polokwane. This was one of the initiatives lead by national government to rename a number of roads, towns and landmarks as part of SA’s democratic transition.
The unique location of Polokwane also allows for fantastic access to the internationally renowned Kruger National Park as well as neighbouring Southern African safari and family holiday destinations, including Mozambique and Botswana. It’s not strange to therefore find that Polokwane has become the perfect destination for many local and international eco-tourists as well as adventurers wanting to experience the African wilderness.
What is the Polokwane property stock composition?
