The southernmost resort town on the KZN Hibiscus Coast is Port Edward. Lying north of the Mtamvuma River, which is the border of KZN & Eastern Cape, this village is a popular holiday & Real Estate choice for those who prefer more tranquil surroundings.

The closest airport is Margate which is 32km away. Here there is a direct route flight to Johannesburg. The nearest international airport is King Shaka International Airport which is north of Durban and 196km away. There is a daily shuttle bus from Port Edward to this airport.

Attractions

The greater area of Port Edward boasts many pristine beaches stretching from Palm Beach in the north to Rennies Beach in the south.

Port Edward Main Beach has the longest Supertube ride in South Africa. Those keen on Scuba Diving can explore the earliest known shipwreck on the KZN Coast. Just 300m from the Beach, this Portuguese Shipwreck dates back to 1552.

A first class wakeboarding venue, the uncrowded surf ensures the Wakeboarder a memorable experience

Silver Beach is a favorite with fishing enthusiasts. Fishing is extremely popular in Port Edward with the lagoon & river also offering fun opportunities with line & rod. The annual sardine run occurring between late May & July is another attraction.

Across the Mtamvuma River lies the Wild Coast Sun & Casino. Here one can find the Wild Wave Water Park which provides thrills for all ages. There is also a Champion 18 hole Golf Course.

There are a number of small schools in Port Edward the most popular being Port Edward Primary School & Woods Preparatory School. Secondary Schools are located In Margate & Port Shepstone.
