The suburb is located in Gauteng and although still developing, the area offers a comfortable stay for smaller families within low LSM groups. Activities and Amenities
Culture and outdoors. Meadowlands residents are fortunate to be near the Credo Mutwa Cultural Village. This is Soweto's best kept secret and offers an intriguing journey into rich African cultures and beliefs. Perfect for family outings, the Credo Mutwa Cultural Village is not only intriguing but you are sure to leave with valuable life lessons. Another attraction close to Meadowlands is the Diepkloof Park. Deeply serene, the park provides recreational activities for the kids while families can indulge in picnics and relaxing social gatherings. It also boasts a splash pool, mini-soccer field and a natural amphitheatre area.
The former State Presiden, Mr Motlante's parents' home is in Meadowlands Zone 8. The executive mayor of Johannesburg, Mr Parks Tau, is also from Meadowlands.
Shopping and entertainment. The area has four main shopping centres, two of which include Meadowlands Shopping Centre and Indofaya Mall. Besides retail therapy there are authentic township restaurants, including Roots Restaurant and Gallery as well as Wandies Place. Famous cuisines include sticky wings, shisa nyama platters and Morogo (wild spinach) to name a few.
Schools and hospitals. There are reputable schools catering to junior and senior education, two of which include Letsibogo Secondary School and Tlhokomelo Primary School. Meadowlands High School is one of the oldest schools in the area. For expert medical care residents have the Lifemed Hospital as well as doctors, pharmacists and dentists within reach. Private healthcare facilities in and around Johannesburg CBD may be preferred depending on individual medical needs.
