Expanding our horizons along the Sapphire Coast

Category News

We are thrilled to announce the strategic expansion of our group along the breathtaking Sapphire Coast with the opening of our new operation in George.

This expansion is being spearheaded by Dean Meijer, who has already made Chas Everitt a household name in Hermanus and all along the Whale Coast, and also already owns the Chas Everitt office in Plettenberg Bay.

"The Sapphire Coast between George and Plett is a stunning stretch of coastline offering unparalleled natural beauty, thriving local economies and a diverse property market that is currently worth around R8bn a year and showing promising growth," he says.

"The area is traversed by the Garden Route drive that runs along the N2 freeway all the way from Mossel Bay to Port Elizabeth and also boasts several world-renowned golf estates such as Fancourt, Oubaai and Pezula as well as pristine nature reserves and beaches.

"It is a gem of South Africa's real estate landscape and boasts some of the most desirable properties in the country, attracting buyers looking for luxury homes, investment properties or a peaceful coastal lifestyle in charming smaller centres like Wilderness, Sedgefield, Knysna and Brenton-on-Sea as well as bigger towns like Plett and George, which even has its own international airport."

George has grown over the past few years from one of SA's most favoured retirement destinations into a key location for regional travel and commerce, with a thriving urban centre and thousands of new permanent residents.

"And the town's strategic location, coupled with its well-established infrastructure and easy access to the surrounding towns and villages, makes it the perfect place to start our expansion along the whole Sapphire Coast," says Meijer.

"George offers its own exciting blend of luxury properties, family homes and commercial investments in a well-managed town that has excellent schools, restaurants and shops, as well as top-notch medical and sports facilities - and has been experiencing rising housing demand for several years.

"However, George Airport also makes the rest of the Sapphire Coast easily accessible to both domestic and international property buyers, and we expect the region to open up even more when the R6bn revamp of the Plettenberg Bay airport that is currently under way is completed.

"As it is, the ability to quickly commute to Johannesburg, Durban or Cape Town by air has already encouraged many high-end buyers to semigrate from other parts of the country and settle their families in this region on a permanent basis. And we believe that as we make it better known internationally through our membership of Leading Real Estate Companies of the World®, the Sapphire Coast will steadily also attract more overseas buyers keen to acquire second homes in SA."

They will find, notes Meijer, that each town in the region has something unique to offer, rom the eco-conscious developments in Wilderness and ultra-luxury homes on a world-renowned polo estate in Plettenberg Bay to the picturesque waterfront properties on Thesen Island in Knysna.

"And our new George office is perfectly positioned as a strategic starting point for anyone who wants to explore that whole spectrum of real estate options. It also represents our commitment to building a team of top property professionals to provide our unmatched expertise and service to customers throughout this region."
