New Moves: Cape Western Seaboard
Category News
Chas Everitt International continues to attract top business executives and professionals to join the organisation – the latest being Hercules van der Walt, formerly of Absa and Sanlam, who recently purchased the Chas Everitt International franchise serving the Western Seaboard of Cape Town.
Van der Walt, who has vast experience in management and business development as well as banking, insurance and mortgage finance, is well-known to many people in the real estate industry, as one of his major roles during his career at Absa was to build and maintain strategic relationships with leading estate agency groups and developers.
However, he says, he is now looking forward to the fresh challenge of being “hands on” in the industry – and delighted to be part of the Chas Everitt International group, with its very strong tradition of customer service excellence, combined with state-of-the-art marketing and exceptional training and business support resources.
“And I don’t think I could have chosen a better area in which to get started than the Western Seaboard, which is not only one of the busiest and best performing property sales areas in the whole country, but also one of the most diverse in terms of the types of property available.”
Renowned for its beautiful beaches, superb views of Table Mountain and perfect conditions for surfing and kite-surfing, the Western Seaboard stretches from Milnerton to Melkbosstrand and includes the suburbs of Table View, Bloubergstrand, Parklands and Big Bay.
Its property offerings range from ultra-modern studio and one-bedroom apartments in beachfront complexes through townhouse and cluster homes in secure complexes and large family homes in traditional suburban settings to waterside villas and luxury mansions in sought-after golf estates – generally at considerably more affordable prices than similar homes in other popular parts of the city.
However, says Van der Walt, home purchases here are also good investments, as indicated by a consistent rise in the median home prices achieved in most Western Seaboard suburbs over the past few years. (See table below.)
“The reason for this is a steady rise in demand as more and more people discover the area’s many attractions and great lifestyle. These include its central location in relation to the city centre, the international airport, the V&A Waterfront and the Cape Winelands, and the fact that it is efficiently served by the MyCiti bus rapid transit system, which enables residents to avoid traffic and save time on commuting.
“It also offers good schools, a variety of excellent shopping and entertainment venues, some of the best restaurants in Cape Town and good medical facilities, and because of the good value for money available here, it is increasingly popular with well-to-do ‘semigrants’ from Gauteng and other inland provinces as well as younger couples and families from around Cape Town”.
In other words, he says, the local market is expected to go from strength-to-strength, and he is already recruiting more top agents in anticipation of expanding the Chas Everitt International presence in the area to meet the increased demand for its services.
