New Property Rental Manager at Chas Everitt Glenvista

Category News

Award-winning Southern Suburbs agent Mark Botha has been appointed manager of the rapidly expanding rental division at Chas Everitt Glenvista.

“There is massive and growing demand for rental properties in all the areas we serve, which is why we also took up the new Chas Everitt Property Rentals Franchise,” says agency owner Jacques Bronkhorst, “and because Mark has such extensive experience and knowledge of the market here, I know he is the perfect person to control and grow this side of Rising deamndour business so we can provide an even more comprehensive service to property consumers in the Southern Suburbs.”

Mark, whose award-winning real estate career spans 25 years of service to homebuyers and sellers, says he is looking forward to the challenge and that the suburbs that make up “The Glens” - including Glenvista, Mulbarton and Bassonia – are particularly attractive to tenants as well as buyers because they offers easy access to the Johannesburg CBD on routes much less congested than those from the North and West as well as great schools, shops and recreational amenities.

“Consequently, the demand for rental properties in these areas currently exceeds supply, ensuring good returns for investors. There is a wide variety of properties and current monthly rentals start at around R4500 for a one-bedroom apartment and R5500 to R6000 for a two bedroom apartment. Houses start at around R8000 a month and can reach R25 000 to R30 000 in the Bassonia Estate and Aspen.”

However, he says, Suideroord, Winchester Hills and other areas to the west of Klip River Road are proving especially attractive to buy-to-let investors at the moment, as there is very high demand for the many new sectional title townhouses, loft units and apartments that have been built here in the past few years.

“Rentals for these units start at around R3750 to R4000 a month for apartments and range up to around R6000 a months for two-bedroom, two-bathroom townhouses. More spacious duplex units will fetch around R8000 to R10 000 a month while houses, although rarely available, will rent for up to R10 000 a month.”

Mark says rentals are similar in the suburbs of Mondeor and Robertsham, which have their own mosques, and that there is rising demand in these areas and right across to the Southgate shopping centre from Muslim clients moving out of Lenasia to be closer to town.

“Then south of The Glens, there is always strong demand for rental units in Brackendowns and Brackenhurst, which are mostly three-bedroom, two bathroom family homes close to good schools, convenient shopping centres and workplaces in Alberton and the surrounding industrial areas.”
