Amanzimtoti is a great coastal town in eThekwini with many beaches including a Blue Flag Beach for permanent residence or holiday goers to enjoy on a daily basis. With a fibrant recorded history dating back to 1828 where the Zulu King Shaka led his army along the South Coast going against the Pondos, where rested and tasted our water exclaiming, "Kanti amanzi amtoti" which is translated as "So the water is sweet", dus from this encounter our beautiful Amanzimtoti got her name which means "Sweet Waters" in isiZulu. Even through to 1842 where a well known King Richard Phillip King also passed through our beautiful area on his journey to Gramstown, the route he took was later named Kingsway, which is still used by locals and tourists alike.
In 1847 a famous doctor called Newton Adams moved to our beautiful town in oder to build another mission station, but he had died before he could complete, later Adams Mission was named in honor of him.
Our are has a rich history that had involved many well known people pass through and even settle here from the 1800's all the way to recent 1900's, stepping into our rich soil you can feel a part of the history, from pain and suffering to moments of victory.
Amanzimtoti is well know for it humid and hot weather. In Winter You can expect an Average high of 24°C and low of 12°C and an average humidity of 63%, whilst on the other hand in Summer You can expect an Average high of 29/30°C and low of 21°C and an average humidity of 83%
The best thing about our climate is the fact that it never changes drastically in different seasons and stays relatively warm throughout the year, perfect for those who love spending their days on the sand and water.
Amanzimtoti's rain season is more towards the end of the year in summer and is generally less rainy during May and June. The good rainfall of amanzimtoti is what gives us our year round green landscapes perfect for gardeners, farmers and those who generally prefer a greener outlook on life.
